I have more than 20 years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources working for a variety of for profit businesses (i.e. international bank, corporate law firm, apparel design) helping them unravel complex interpersonal and organizational dynamics. As a former HR executive responsible for strategy, advocacy, and operations, I understand the balancing act. I narrow my experience down to a few core insights that help me develop a results-based leadership strategy for my nonprofit clients.
Am I making a difference? A question has secretly haunted me for most of my professional career. It is the holy grail my subconscious mind continues to chase. It just so happens that I found I was not alone in my secret quest when I started doing pro bono consulting with nonprofits. In fact, I was overwhelmed and mystified by the selfless motivation that drove so many of the leaders to start or join “the cause”.
Remarkably, serving the cause is not enough. Many of those leaders are still asking themselves “Am I making a difference?” It is the question that exposes the leader’s soul to the mission and keeps so many up at night.
My clients are the nonprofit leaders who have the courage to hear the answer and to take action. They don’t have all answers, but they are committed to:
• Putting the right people in the right roles
• Preparing the new generation of leaders for tomorrow’s challenges
• Chasing impact rather than dollars
And partner with me for guidance on their journey because they recognize that I’m committed to those same things. Together, in our little cosmos, we tackle some of the toughest challenges the social sector is facing and that helps us sleep better at night.
Let’s connect if any of this resonates with you.
